TRUE NORTH COUNSELLING

HOW I CAN HELP YOU

I specialize in individual and group therapy with adults and teenagers. I use different therapeutic interventions based on the tailored treatment plan I design for you.

I gather feedback and monitor progress during each session to ensure we are working towards your goals and meeting your expectations.

Some therapeutic interventions used during therapy may include but are not limited to are; person centered, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution focused, narrative therapy.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT):

CBT is a form of psychological treatment that has been effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol, and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. Research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life and can be effective as, or more effective than, other forms of psychological therapy or psychiatric medications.

DIALECTAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (DBT):

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING:

Motivational interviewing is a counselling method that involves enhancing a patient's motivation to change by means of four guiding principles, represented by the acronym RULE: Resist the righting reflex; Understand the patient's own motivations; Listen with empathy; and Empower the patient.

NARRATIVE THERAPY:

Narrative therapy is a style of therapy that helps people become—and embrace being—an expert in their own lives. In narrative therapy, there is an emphasis on the stories that you develop and carry with you through your life.
